What is  Permanent Hair Straightening?

Permanent Hair Straightening is only the safest and most effective permanent hair straightening system for clients with naturally curly, coarse, or frizzy hair. Utilizing two solution strengths tailored for different hair types, your hair is chemically and structurally altered from within. Straightness is achieved using the flat iron technique, keeping the hair structure in place permanently. Lisa Salon Concepts uses the Repit hair straightening system exclusively, so your end result will be hair that is naturally soft, shiny, and healthy!

Permanent hair straightening FAQ’s

  • Q. How long will my hair remain straight and frizz-free?

    A. Hair that has been treated remains straight permanently. The new hair that grows will retain your original texture and curl/wave pattern. A retouch treatment that does only new hair growth can be done once your new hair has grown in at least 3 inches long.

  • Q. How much does permanent hair straightening cost?

    A. The base price is $250.00-$275.00 or more for thick and long hair for the first two hours, $60.00 for each additional hour.

  • Q. How long does permanent hair straightening take?

The typical treatment takes anywhere from 2 to 4, sometimes longer, depending on the thickness and length of your hair.

  • Q. Is permanent hair straightening harmful?

    A. The products used at Lisa Salon Concepts are non-toxic and formaldehyde-free. After having your treatment done by a well-trained specialist, your hair will look wonderful and healthy! It should be noted that if your hair has already been damaged by excessive coloring or processing, permanent hair straightening will not be appropriate for you. A consultation with a trained professional will determine whether we can proceed with treatment.

  • Q. What should I do right after my permanent hair straightening service?

    A. Please do not wash/wet or expose hair to moisture hair in any way for at least 72 hours (3 days) right after the service is done. Do not do any hairstyle that will cause any tension to the hair (no ponytails, hair clips, etc.) for at least a few days.

  • Q. How do I care for and maintain my hair post-treatment?

    A. Just shampoo and condition your hair using premium quality products every 2-3 days. Try to stay away from anti-dandruff products that contain sulfur, tar, or sodium hydroxide.

  • Q. When can I color/highlight my hair?

    A. Make sure that you inform your color technician that your hair has been chemically straightened before a color service. Please wait at least two weeks before coloring. Bleaching hair is not recommended, only 20vol coloring. If you plan to lighten your hair color more than 3 levels up, Lisa Salon Concepts recommends you opt for keratin treatment instead of permanent hair straightening.

  • Q. What’s the difference between Keratin Treatment vs. Permanent Hair Straightening?

    A. If you already have had some chemical hair treatment done in the past 1 year, please let me know before making an appointment. Examples of chemical hair treatments we should know about include:

    • Permanent wave

    • Highlights

    • Ombre

    • Balayage

    • Relaxer

    • Straightening with iron more than 2-3 times a week

If you have had any of these procedures done within the past year, Lisa Salon Concepts recommends Keratin Treatment rather than Permanent Hair Straightening.

  • Q. When should I come for the next service?

    A. This would depend on the rate of new hair regrowth and the degree of your natural curl pattern. Typically, it’s anytime after 6 to 12 months. The hours required and the price of the process will depend on the length, texture, and curl of your hair. You should contact Lisa Salon Concepts for a free consultation prior to your appointment so you can talk through what you should and should not expect. This will allow me to analyze your hair and plan the process suitable for your needs.
